Transcription: Cookers have come a long way since the days of the open range. The immediate successor of which was the gas stove, fueled variously by coal gas, propane, or more recently North Sea gas. Although still very popular, the gas cooker now has to compete with the electric cooker, which has the advantage of varying numbers of automatic control facilities. In design, cookers are more and more streamlined, incorporating easy clean features and numerous other practical improvements.
